What's Your Favorite Way to Embellish Crochet?

Hello Reader, You know, it's strange. I am not a frilly girl. I would mostly describe myself as a "plain Jane". I wear solid colors with almost no embellishments or patterns. No flowers, no lace, no bows, no ruffles, etc. And yet, one of my favorite things to crochet and adorn my crochet projects with is ruffles! You see, I may not consider myself a "girly girl", but my little Yorkie fur baby, Vanessa (aka Nessa) most definitely is. Long before Nessa came into my life I had designed the Quick & Easy Small Dog Sweater for my Yorkie boys. But little Nessa really needed a girl version and ruffles suited her just fine. And so my love of crochet ruffles began!
Now I published Nessa's Ruffle Butt Sweater long before I ever did the ruffles tutorial. The pattern included a photo tutorial and most people had no issues doing the ruffles based on that tutorial. But every once in a while someone would struggle - and that's okay! I decided I must do a video tutorial to help them out. So I finally did. Along with the video, I published a step-by-step photo tutorial on the blog as well. That way it's in a couple of formats - we all learn differently ya know! You know another thing that's funny? I absolutely love crochet ruffles, but have only used them in two patterns! It's weird. I know. I feel the pattern needs to "call" for ruffles, but I definitely see some more ruffly designs coming in the future! Until next time... Happy Crocheting! |
